Masterpieces of nature

Do you think panda bears are cute?  Does the image of a shark’s mouth, open and full of sharp pointy teeth scare you?  What do you say when you see a slimy slug inching across the sidewalk?  Researchers are trying to figure out why we think and feel the things we do when we see certain animals, even if those animals are in no way threatening or harmful to us.  Check out the pictures of “ugly” animals on page 4A of today’s Times.  What makes these animals ugly?  Do you agree or disagree?  If these animals looked the same, but were a different color (such as a panda bear), would that make a difference?  Share your thoughts here on our blog.
