Ruffled nests and feathers
In the know. In the Times.
Shell Key was once a popular spot for boating enthusiasts in Tampa Bay. Located at the mouth of Tampa Bay, just north of Ft Desoto County Park, you could anchor your boat there and play in the sun on the undeveloped island all day long. That changed a few years ago when the island was designated as an official preserve for nesting shore birds, with people and their pets banned from the island. Now a company filming a commercial for personal watercraft is under fire for disturbing the bird nests with a low-flying helicopter. Read all about it on page 1B of the Times. What is your take on the situation, were filming permits granted too easily by the county, or did the filming crew overstep their boundaries? Leave your comments here on our blog!
