State shutters solar future

We live in the Sunshine State.  Burning oil to make electricity is getting expensive, and burning coal to make electricity creates a lot of air pollution.  So why not harness the energy of the sun in solar panels to make electricity?  That is the question state leaders have been trying to answer for a few years, they even had a proposal written that included TECO and a Polk County energy harnessing facility.  An article on the front page of today’s B section describes that proposal, and how it has fallen apart due to lack of funding from the state government.  Solar panels are expensive.  More expensive than burning coal or oil anyway.  Should we go for the cheapest option or the more environmentally friendly option, even if it costs more?  Share your opinion here with us.
