What does it mean to say, “He has strong character?”  What makes a person a good role model?  Honesty, bravery and integrity are a few virtues that come to mind.  Salvatore Giunta exemplifies these ideals and has been awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama, the highest award the military can bestow.  Giunta is being recognized for his extreme acts of bravery in Afghanistan where he rescued wounded soldiers from a very dangerous situation.  The soldiers later died, which is why Giunta feels he doesn’t deserve the Medal of Honor.  Read about his story in today’s Times on page 4A and let us know what you think.  What character traits do you have?  Can you think of someone in your life who has strong character and is a good role model?  Tells us about them here on our blog.
