Walk a mile in his shoes

In the know. In the Times.

How important is it that you follow the latest fashion trends?  Do you walk down the hallway at school and hope people notice how many silly bands you are wearing on your wrists?  Do you buy new shoes every two months to stay in step with your friends?  Ben Hedblom made a bet his freshman year of high school to wear the same shoes every day until he graduated, and in the process of sticking to his bet he learned a lot about self image and what others think of him simply based on his worn out floppy shoes.  He was even able to turn his adventure into a senior class psychology project.  Read about his life lessons in “Many steps, same shoes” on page 1A of today's St. Petersburg Times.  Did his story change your mind about how you want to present yourself to others?
