No Dukes again
Elijah Dukes is out of the Rays lineup for a third straight game, but the move is simply a decision by manager Joe Maddon and not an organizational order, according to executive vice president Andrew Friedman said.
"It's completely Joe"s decision,'' Friedman said. "Elijah showed up yesterday and I think is in a much better frame of mind than he was Wednesday. The starting lineup is Joe's decision.''
Delmon Young is starting in centerfield again, with Jonny Gomes in right.
Also, injured CF Rocco Baldelli is expected to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Sunday and could be activated for the June 22 game against the Dodgers.
And LHP David Price, the Rays top pick in the draft, was named winner of the Dick Howser Trophy as the nation's top collegian, an award given by the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
Friday's lineup:
Iwamura, 3b
Harris, ss
Crawford, lf
Wigginton, 2b
Pena, 1b
Young, cf
Gomes, rf
Navarro, c
Shields, p
