Riggans OK; Maddon doesn't anticipate a Bartlett DL stay

Amidst the Rays wild, 6-5 win over the Tigers Sunday afternoon, Tampa Bay received more than a few scares.

But SS Jason Bartlett, who left the game in the 10th after a ball struck his right index finger on a failed bunt attempt, said X-rays were negative for a fracture. Though his finger was taped up, manager Joe Maddon said he doesn't anticipate a disabled list stay for Bartlett.

Maddon said Bartlett likely won't play Monday against the Indians, and Bartlett said he "probably won't be throwing for a couple days." (Rookie third baseman Evan Longoria could serve as backup at short, with Willy Aybar moving to third.)

On the next pitch, backup catcher Shawn Riggans was struck in the chest by a pitch from Fernando Rodney. Riggans was tended to for several minutes by Rays medical personnel, but stayed in the game and scored the winning run.

Riggans said afterward he was fine - and that X-rays were negative. He just lost his breath for a second. Though it was definitely a scare, "there was no way I was coming out of the game."
