Rays lose second game, split doubleheader with Yanks
NEW YORK (AP) -- Xavier Nady hit a tiebreaking single in the seventh inning and the New York Yankees rallied to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 Saturday, salvaging a split of the day-night doubleheader.
James Shields got the AL East-leading Rays off to a fast start in the opener, tossing eight shutout innings in a 7-1 victory.
The Rays wound up the day with a two-game division edge over Boston, which split a doubleheader with Toronto.
