Upton leaves game with strained left quad
UPDATE: Upton said he felt some tightness during a first-inning play and it got progressively worse as the game went on, leaving him concerned that if he tried to run hard he would pull it. He also said his hope is to return to the lineup Friday in New York, but that is not certain.
The Rays, already missing Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria, are likely to call up help Tuesday.
