Chamber of commerce places bet on World Series
The mayors did it. The governors did it. Now, even the St. Petersburg and Philadelphia chambers of commerce are getting in on the wager fever.
“We are putting up a bushel of oranges and Cuban sandwiches,” said John T. Long, president of the St. Petersburg chamber in a press release. “And when the Rays win, their chamber executive has to wear a Rays jersey and a Rayhawk wig.”
Meanwhile, visitors to the St. Petersburg chamber can register to win a Rays gift basket valued at $250.
