Party at Pier on Friday if the Rays win tonight
ST. PETERSBURG -- City officials are scrambling to put together a celebration if the Tampa Bay Rays win tonight.
If the team beats the Red Sox, the city will host a street party 5:30 p.m. at the Pier on Friday with live music, face painting and other family-friendly activities. The specifics are hazy. City officials said they are still trying to confirm acts and appearances, including whether the team will be there.
"It's kind of like putting together Fourth of July in 24 hours," said Susan Robertson, the Pier's spokeswoman. "Nothing has been confirmed."
The city will host a viewing party tonight at the Pier in its courtyard, which can hold 1,000 people.
About 200 people showed up at the Pier on Saturday to watch the game.
