Rays closer Troy Percival said on Wednesday before a workout at Tropicana Field that he does not expect to be included on the Rays 25-man playoff roster for the American League Division Series.

"I asked and they said as of right now it doesn’t look like it, but right now we’re not 100 percent positive yet," Percival said.

Rays manager Joe Maddon would not confirm nor deny as the team will wait until the 10 a.m. Thursday deadline to announce its roster.

Percival, 39, indicated he is healthy enough to pitch and believes the decision was made to get another player on the roster, not work around his previous ailments.

"Nothing I can do about it," he said. "It is what it is and I understand I spent the good majority of two months not healthy and not pitching well. The shot definitely helped and I think that I showed that I can go out and pitch. I went three out of four, then went two more. I think health isn’t really that big of an issue at this point. It’s just a matter of what they want to do with the roster. I’ll be fine with whatever they can give me.

"I don’t know if they’ve even made up their final decision yet or not, but it’s not my job to try and argue with them or what have you. They will do what they think is best for the organization, and if that includes me, great, if it doesn’t I’ll be here clapping."
