Pitching Philadelphia in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG -- Cara Schneider of Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing is visiting the Tampa Bay area today and encouraging Rays fans to come see her city during the World Series.

What can Rays fans expect if they tour Philadelphia before games at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, Sunday and (if necessary) Monday?
"I think they will be amazed at what a great walking city it is." she said today.

She said tourists can visit the Liberty Bell for free, and also check out the National Constitution Center, Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House and other historic attractions. She also suggested a run up the stairs outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, just like the in the movie Rocky.

Yes, she acknowledged, Philadelphia fans have earned a reputation for being intense about their teams, but at least they don't beat around the bush. She said most people will be welcoming to out-of-town visitors, although a Rays ball cap could earn you a little razzing.
