Rays make roster official
The Rays released their official ALCS roster this morning and, as expected, it includes RHP Edwin Jackson and excludes OF Eric Hinske.
The Rays. like the Red Sox, opted to bulk up their bullpen by going with 11 pitchers for the seven-game ALCS. Jackson, a 14-game winner during the season, likely will work in long relief or extra innings, as will rookie LHP David Price.
Hinske hit 20 homers during the season, but his role was greatly reduced with the return of LF Carl Crawford from injury. Hinske did not play in the division series, and the Rays opted to keep the more versatile rookie Fernando Perez as a backup.
