Rays, Phillies gear headed to Hall of Fame
Rays outfielders Carl Crawford and B.J. Upton and manager Joe Maddon are headed to the Hall of Fame. Well, equipment they wore during the World Series anyway.
A cap worn by Maddon in Philadelphia, a road jersey worn by Crawford and spikes worn by Upton during the World Series are among the memorabilia that will be displayed in an exhibit dedicated to the 2008 World Series scheduled to open in mid November at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Phillies gear that will be featured in the exhibit includes a jersey that World Series MVP Cole Hamels wore during Game 5, spikes worn by Jayson Werth throughout the Series, a cap worn by Eric Bruntlett during home games, a helmet worn by Carlos Ruiz and the bat Joe Blanton used to hit a home run in Game 4.
The World Series case highlights the Museum’s "Autumn Glory" exhibition, documenting the history of baseball’s postseason. The 2008 World Series case will remain on exhibit through the 2009 postseason.
