Security tight for Rays game
St. Petersburg Chief of Police Chuck Harmon said security is tighter than normal for the ALCS series.
Police have about 50 percent more staff working at Tropicana Field, he said.
"The Red Sox have been here. It's always a challenge," Harmon said. "But the officers are used to working with this stuff."
They have bomb-sniffing dogs and are looking out for fraud in ticket sales and knock-off merchandise.
The postseason has brought bigger crowds and more activity than usual.
The International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement had about 20 people protesting the police shooting of Javon Dawson.
The night also brought celebrities including rapper Lil Wayne, retired Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pro Bowl fullback Mike Alstott, security said. American Idol runnerup David Archuleta, who was scheduled to sing "God Bless America," also came in through the VIP entrance at Gate 4.
