Iwamura on WBC roster

DECEMBER 15, 2008

As expected, Rays 2B Akinori Iwamura was named to the preliminary roster for Japan's team in the World Baseball Classic.
Iwamura is expected to be a key member of the defending champion Japanese team's lineup, and there is a possibility he may be used at third base, his original position, rather than second, where the Rays moved him last season.
Rosters for the other participating countries have not been released yet.
