Miller - officially - joins Cardinals
Whatever concerns the Cardinals had about LHP Trever Miller. they were resolved enough for them to sign him Wednesday to a one-year contract.
Miller, whose $2-million option was declined by the Rays, becomes the first member of the AL champions to sign elsewhere.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Miller can make the same $2-million if he reachs all apperarance-based incentives; his original deal was reportedly two years for $4-million. The Cardinals made the change, the newspaper reported, after their doctors saw what they belive to be a tear in the labrum of his left shoulder, but Miller said it hasn't caused him any soreness or limited his workouts.
Miller told the newspaper he wanted to either go back to the Rays or sign with the Cardinals.
The Rays other free agents are OFs Rocco Baldelli and Eric Hinske, and DH Cliff Floyd.
