Rocco thanks Rays fans in newspaper ad
UPDATE 1:18: Rocco Baldelli said he decided to take out the ad, which will also appear in tbt* later this week, because he wanted some way to share his feelings about the Tampa Bay area fans.
"I just thought it was the right thing to do,'' Baldelli said Wednesday from Rhode Island. "I thought it was appropriate. I wanted everyone to know how I felt. It's tough to talk to every single person that I met down there, but I think it was a good start.''

Former Rays outfielder Rocco Baldelli, who signed as a free agent with the Boston Red Sox this offseason, took out a half-page ad in today's St. Petersburg Times thanking Rays fans for their support. "I will always think of the Tampa Bay Area as my second home," Baldelli wrote, "and I would like to thank everyone for accepting me and for making my time here as enjoyable as it was. I will never forget. Thank you once again." Click the image below to enlarge.
