Izzy in the house
RHP Jason Isringhausen was in the clubhouse early this morning, excited with the opportunity to compete for a job in the Rays bullpen after agreeing to a minor-league deal Friday night.
Isringhausen, 36, said he is recovered from September surgery to repair his flexor tendon and ready to compete.
"I'm good to go,'' Isringhausen said. "It wasn't about trying to find the best deal, it was trying to find the best fit. ... It's something I haven't had to do in 12 years, make a team. I'm excited. It's good for me.''
Isringhausen said his 2008 struggles, physical injuries, demotion and a mid-season mental break, were just the result of "a bad year.''
He thanked the Cardinals for his seven years, for but said "things had kind of gotten stagnant over there for me.''
