Some pain, some pitchers

OF Matt Joyce is sidelined for at least a few days with a sore right calf, though he does not expect it to be a lingering injury. "It's a little bump in the road,'' he said. "I don't think it's anything to really be worried about. It's nothing major. I'll be out there in a couple days.

The Rays announced starters for their second and third exhibition games, with Wade Davis facing the Yankees in Tampa on Thursday and Jeff Niemann opposing the Red Sox (and Michael Bowden) on Friday at Charlotte Sports Park.

With LHP Carlos Hernandez already named to start Wednesday's exhibition opener, the Rays are also planning to pitch Jason Hammel, Randy Choate, Lance Cormier, J.P. Howell, Neal Frontz and Mitch Talbot. The Reds will start Edinson Volquez.
