Bartlett says hamstring injury not serious, should play Thursday

Update 12:20 p.m. Shortstop Jason Bartlett, who left Wednesday's game in the fifth inning with left hamstring tightness, said it was more precautionary than anything, and expects to be back in the lineup Thursday when the Rays host the Red Sox.

Bartlett said he felt it a little bit while making a headfirst slide into first base trying to beat out a grounder in the top of the fifth. "It gradually started grabbing a little, but nothing serious. Should be good to go (Thursday)."

Shortstop Jason Bartlett left Wednesday's game after the top of the fifth inning with what the Rays called left hamstring tightness.

Bartlett had grounded out in the top of the fifth inning. He was replaced by Ben Zobrist, who moved from rightfield. And Gabe Gross replaced Zobrist in right.

Bartlett had been off to a hot start in April, with his .378 batting average on pace to be the best April average-wise in club history.

More details as they come.
