Tampa Bay Rays Longoria player of month
Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria has been named AL Player of the Month for April, the first Ray to win such an award in their 12 seasons.
"It’s very special,'' Longoria said. "Like I always say, I’ll take a win over anything. And I’d take us to be in first place. But the personal accomplishments are something that I’ll be able to treasure by myself for the rest of my life.”
In 21 games, Longoria hit .369 with six homers and an AL-high matching 24 RBIs, and had a major-league high .714 slugging percentage.
Scott Kazmir won the AL pitcher of the month award in May 2008.
