Tampa Bay Rays' Longoria named AL Player of the Week
Rays third baseman Evan Longoria has been named American League Player of the Week, making it his second weekly honor this season.
In seven games last week, Longoria hit .379 (11-29) with an AL-best 14 RBI, compiling 21 total bases with two home runs and nine runs scored. Longoria posted a .724 slugging percentage and .438 on base percentage.
Longoria had some of the biggest hits in the series against the Red Sox (when the Rays won three of four games), including a grand slam Friday to lift the Rays to a come-from-behind victory.
Entering today's game, Longoria leads the majors with 30 RBI and 12 doubles.
Longoria also won AL player of the week in the first week of this season
