Longoria loses lead in AL All-Star voting, Crawford drops to fifth
Yankees SS Derek Jeter moved past Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria for the overall lead in the AL All-Star voting.
Longoria had led the last three weeks, but in the update released today, Jeter is back on top with 2,563,093 votes while Longoria has 2,488,076.
Longoria still has a healthy lead over the Yankees Alex Rodriguez to start at third base.
But OF Carl Crawford has dropped to fifth in the voting for the top three outfield spots - behind Boston's Jason Bay (2,077,504), Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki (1,455,266), Texas' injured Josh Hamilton (1,385,212) and now the Angels' Torii Hunter (1,186,097). Crawford has 1,172,241 votes.
Jason Bartlett remains a distant second to Jeter among shortstops with 1,148,988. Carlos Pena, despite leading the AL in home runs, is not among the top 5 first basemen.
Voting continues through July 2 at mlb.com and the teams announced July 5.
