Rays add Jorge Julio to Triple-A, dump Orvella

The Rays added to the depth of their relief corp at Triple-A Durham - and potentially eventually at the big-league level - by signing 9-year veteran RHP Jorge Julio, who has 99 career saves, a 17-34 record and a 4.43 ERA in 453 relief appearances.

Julio, 30, began the season with Milwaukee and was 1-1, 7.79 in 15 appearances before being released last week. He had a one-year, $950,000 contract.

To make room on the Durham roster, they released RHP CHad Orvella, a former big-leaguer who was 0-1, 6.12 in 19 appearances.
