Rays send down Sonnanstine, add Kazmir, Bradford

The Rays sent RHP Andy Sonnanstine to Triple-A and designated Winston Abreu for assignment to make room on their roster. Scott Kazmir will start on Saturday. Jeff Niemann will be bumped back to Monday. The Rays had to clear space for Kazmir and RHP Chad Bradford to be activated. Abreu is out of options, and the Rays have 10 days to release, trade or pass him through waivers. Sonnanstine made the decision tougher by the way he pitched after a rough first inning on Thursday. He left Friday without talking to the media, according to a team spokesman. The decision on who to drop from the rotation was between Niemann, David Price and Sonnanstine.
