Tampa Bay Rays SS Jason Bartlett sets club record with 19-game hitting streak
The bloop single to rightfield by SS Jason Bartlett in the fifth inning Thursday may not have been hit hard, but it helped make Rays history.
Bartlett has now set a club record by extending his career-high hitting streak to 19 games, passing Quinton McCracken (who had an 18-game streak in 1998). It is also now the longest active streak in the majors.
The crowd gave Bartlett a standing ovation, and it looks like he'll receive the ball as a momento.
