Why Zobrist wasn't allowed to score on eighth inning play

So there's been many questions on why Ben Zobrist had to go back to third base after it appeared like he scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard.

Here's what happened and why.

Willy Aybar attempted a bunt, which Bard fielded, and threw wildly past Victor Martinez into the Rays bullpen area. When the ball went into, or behind, a bag in the bullpen, it became a dead ball. Even though Zobrist - and Aybar - crossed the plate, the umpires reverted to rule 7.05 (g).

Essentially, that reads that when a fielder throws a ball out of play for a dead ball, each runner gets two bases from where they were at the time of the pitch (kind of like a ground rule double). So Aybar had to stay at second, and Zobrist back to third.
