Pena surgery a success, full recovery expected in 8-10 weeks
The Rays said 1B Carlos Pena underwent successful surgery Thursday on his two broken fingers and is expected to make a full recovery in 8-10 weeks.
Dr. Doug Carlan performed the two-hour operation in St. Petersburg to insert pins into Pena's left index and middle fingers, which were broken by a CC Sabathia pitch on Monday. The pins will be removed in 4-6 weeks, Pena should be fully recovered in 8-10, and should not be impacted by the start of spring training.
