Upton doing better, should be back Sunday or Monday

SEPTEMBER 04, 2009

Manager Joe Maddon said CF B.J. Upton is doing better than expected and should return from his left ankle sprain by Sunday or when the Rays open a series in New York on Monday.

"Sooner rather than later,'' Maddon said.

With Upton out, Fernando Perez will get the start in center, with Maddon hoping he provides a spark.
