B.J. Upton becomes first Ray to hit for the cycle
Centerfielder B.J. Upton became the first Ray to hit for the cycle, sealing the achievement with a single to rightfield in the fifth inning against the Yankees Friday night.
Upton had already racked up a three-run triple in the first, a double in the third an a two-run homer in the fourth. And with his RBI single in the fifth, he now has a career-high six RBIs tonight.
Upton received a standing ovation from the crowd as the achievement was mentioned on the Trop jumbotron. His teammates stood atop the dugout steps and cheered him too, with Upton pointing back to them, as the crowd chanted, "BJ! BJ! BJ!"
