Report: ex-Rays manager Hal McRae out as Cardinals hitting coach, replaced by Mark McGwire

Reports from St. Louis are that former Rays manager Hal McRae, the longtime Bradenton resident, has been dumped as the Cardinals hitting coach and will be replaced by Mark McGwire, a move that is somewhat controversial given McGwire's role in baseball's steroids issues.

A formal announcement is expected during the week, after the Cardinals make it official that Tony La Russa will return as manager.
