Fred McGriff one of 15 newcomers to 2010 Hall of Fame ballot

Ex-Ray Fred McGriff is one of 15 newcomers on the 2010 Hall of Fame ballot, released today by the Baseball Writers Association of America.  

McGriff, who played for the then-Devil Rays from 1998 to 2001, is tied with Lou Gehrig for 26th on the career home run with 493 and had a .284 average in 19 seasons. He led the AL in homers for Toronto in 1989 and the NL for San Diego in 1992.

McGriff joins newcomers like Roberto Alomar and Barry Larkin and Edgar Martinez.
