UPDATE, 2:40: The Chicago Tribune reports the Mariners will pay the Cubs $9 million in the deal, so the Cubs net $6 million in payroll savings by swapping Bradley's $22 million deal over the next two years for Silva's $25 million contract over the same span.

DEVELOPING: Talented but troubled Milton Bradley won't be coming to the Rays. The Cubs apparently found someone else to take him.

According to the Seattle Times' Larry Stone, the talented but troublesome outfielder/DH is about to be traded to the Mariners for pitcher Carlos Silva.

The Rays had been interested in Bradley in a swap for disappointing DH Pat Burrell, but were not willing to take on much of the $13-million Bradley is owed in 2011. Both make $9-million in 2010, which is the last year of Burrell's deal.

Silva has the worst contract of the three - he is owed $25 million - $11.5 million in 2010 and 2011, with a $2 million buyout on a 2012 option.

Jon Heyman of SI.com first reported that the Cubs and Mariners were in talks.
