RHP Ramon Ramirez released
The Rays cleared a spot on their 40-man roster by releasing RHP Ramon Ramirez, who had been claimed on waivers from the Reds on Nov. 9.
With the move, the Rays roster stands at 39, creating space for a possible selection in the Rule 5 draft at next week's winter meetings. They'd also need room if either free agent C Gregg Zaun or LHP Brian Shouse accept arbitration.
