Shouse rejects arbitration
LHP Brian Shouse declined the Rays offer of arbitration at Monday's midnight deadline. Shouse will remain a free agent, and the Rays will get a compensatory draft pick (between rounds 1 and 2) if he signs with another team.
With two extra picks for not signing their first- and second-round selections in this year's draft and compensatory picks for free agents Gregg Zaun and Shouse, the Rays will have six of the first 75 or so selections in the upcoming draft.
