For starters: Back to back starts for Duffy as Rays face Red Sox, 1:05

UPDATE, 11:36: Manager Kevin Cash said the plan is to play Duffy on back to back days a couple times early in spring, believing the short bursts of activity will best help him build up after missing all of 2017. … Matt Andriese will come out of the bullpen today as he transitions to his new role as a multi-inning reliever. … Hudson will throw a live batting practice in Port Charlotte today, joining Alex Colome and Sergio Romo, the veteran relievers being held back early in spring.

DEVELOPING: 3B Matt Duffy came into camp saying he felt really good and his left foot troubles, that kept him out all of 2017, were behind him.

The Rays are giving him the chance to show that right away in the exhibition season with back to back starts as they face the Red Sox today in Fort Myers.

Also of note, reliever Daniel Hudson, acquired Thursday from the Pirates, reported to camp, and will wear No. 41.

Hudson said he was surprised to be traded, was excited to join the Rays,  felt he just got "out of whack" with strike-throwing last year leading to his struggles and sees joining the Rays  as "kind of a fresh start."
