Tampa Bay Rays

For starters: Rays vs. Red Sox, with Duffy and Hechavarria back in action

UPDATE, 9:49: Cash said having Faria pitch in the sim game wasn't to avoid facing the Red Sox, whom Rays face in the season opening series, but to let him work "in a controlled environment" on his tempo.

UPDATE, 9:37: The Rays made their first "cut" of the spring, reassigning INF Grant Kay to minor-league camp. Kay had been limited by a sore shoulder. He spent most of last season at Double-A Montgomery.

DEVELOPING: The Rays are back in action today in Port Charlotte, and have  two of their previously injured infielders, Matt Duffy (back) and Adeiny Hechavarria (hamstring) back in action..

The other, Brad Miller, will play in  the 10 a.m. simulated game. He has not played since the Feb. 23 spring opener due to the impact of a broken right pinky toe.

Also in the "simulated" game – think batting  practice meets controlled scrimmage – this morning, will be  RHP Jake Faria throwing and newcomer Carlos Gomez scheduled to hit. Also throwing are RHPs Jake Faria, Ryne Stanek, Jaime Schultz and LHP Jonny Venters.

Here is the Rays lineup:

Kiermaier cf
Hechavarria ss
Ramos c
Cron dh
Duffy 3b
Wendle 2b
Bauers 1b
Coats rf
Smuth lf
Hu p

And here is the Red Sox lineup, with several of their big-name players:
Castillo RF,
Benintendi CF,
Ramirez 1B,
Devers 3B,
Bogaerts SS,
Swihart LF,
Holt 2B,
