1. Watching LHP Blake Snell pitch like he did Monday, with confidence and conviction to his pitches, you can see the potential for him to be a dominant starter. He just has to do it more consistently, inning to inning and start to start.
2. Choosing to give Mallex Smith the bulk of the playing time in center rather than Carlos Gomez makes sense. Gomez has more experience, but this is a chance for the Rays to get a better read on how much a part of their future Smith can be.
3. Seeing Matt Duffy walk off the field injured — even with the initial diagnosis of just tightness in his right hamstring — was a concerning sight for the Rays, especially given how much time he missed last year with left foot issues.
