Tampa Bay Rays

For starters: Rays at Royals, looking for a sweep

UPDATE, 1:19: The Rays put Gomez on  the 10-day DL and recalled INF Christian Arroyo, but expect Duffy to miss only a couple days. … Arroyo was due to arrive before game time and be available off the bench, with plans to start him vs. the LHPs they will see in Anaheim. .. Cash said Johnny Field and Rob Refsnyder will get more time in outfield with Gomez out, and that Daniel Robertson could be used out there as well. … Cash said he was most impressed with Banda's strike-throwing last night. … 1B/DH C.J. Cron goes into play today on a 21-game on-base streak.

Here is the Royals lineup:
Jay rf
Soler DH
Moustakas 3b
Perez c
Merrifield 2b
Gordon lf
Dozier 1b
Escobar ss
Almonte cf
Hammel p

DEVELOPING: The Rays are sending RHP Jake Faria to the mound to try to complete a sweep of the Royals in Kansas City today, but the biggers question is how many guys they have to play behind him.

With 3B Matt Duffy (hamstring tightness) and RF Carlos Gomez (groin tightness) leaving Tuesday's game, the Rays could be down to C Jesus Sucre and INF/OF Rob Refsnyder on the bench, unless they make a roster move.

Faria is coming off a rough outing in Baltimore but seems confident that he has made the proper adjustments. The Royals are starting ex-Ray RHP Jason Hammel, who has had his issues this season as well.

Though neither Gomez  nor Duffy felt their injuries would require DL stay, the Rays were planning to decide early this morning what to do. The Rays could DL one, or drop a pitcher and make a callup. If they opt for an infielder, either Willy Adames or Christian Arroyo (who has MLB time) would make the most sense. If they go for an OF, either Jeremy Hazelbaker (who has MLB time) or Justin Williams. Or maybe one of each.

Also, rain is again in the forecast.
Here is the Rays lineup:
Span lf
Cron dh
Wendle 2b
Ramos c
Miller 1b
Hechavarria ss
Smith cf
Robertson 3b
Field rf
Faria p
