Tampa Bay Rays

Joey Knight’s takeaways from the Rays’ 1-0 win over Toronto

*Even on a quiet day, C Wilson Ramos is performing like an all-star. Replacing Jesus Sucre as a pinch-hitter in the seventh, Ramos' ninth-inning sharp grounder to short moved Mallex Smith (who had doubled) to third base. Moments later, Matt Duffy's single scored Smith to end the game.

*Got to admire the pain threshhold of Blue Jays SS Aledmys Diaz. Minutes after fouling a pitch off the inside of his left ankle (and writhing momentarily on the ground), Diaz snagged a Carlos Gomez grounder deep in the hole and threw him out by roughly a step.

*Before breaking through late, the Rays battled early. Despite facing only four Tampa Bay hitters in the first inning, Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ threw 30 pitches, including a litany of balls fouled off.
