Tampa Bay Rays

Up next for the Rays: Blake Snell to open four-game series at Yankee Stadium

Thursday: at Yankees
7:05, Yankee Stadium
TV/radio: Fox Sports 1; 620-AM, 680-AM (Spanish)

Probable pitchers
Rays: LH Blake Snell (8-3, 2.30)
Yankees: RH Domingo German (0-4, 5.32)

On Snell: By 2018 standards, Snell was shaky in Saturday's win against Seattle (6 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 K, 2 BB), but still is 3-0 with a 0.38 ERA over his last four starts. He has yielded two or fewer runs in 12 starts, tied with Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander for most in the majors.

On German: Once an afterthought in the Yankees' farm system, German, who also has logged time in the bullpen, seeks his first big-league victory in his seventh career start. In his first start, in early May against Cleveland, he threw six no-hit innings before being pulled as he approached his pitch limit.

RAYS VS. GERMAN
Rob Refsnyder 0-for-1

YANKEES VS. SNELL
Brett Gardner 3-for-13
Didi Gregorius 2-for-10
Aaron Judge 0-for-5
Gary Sanchez 3-for-8, 2 HR

On deck
Friday:
at Yankees, 7:05. Rays, RH Nathan Eovaldi (1-1, 3.94); Yankees, RH Jonathan Loaisiga (big-league debut)
Saturday: at Yankees, 1:05. Rays, TBA; Yankees, RH Luis Severino (9-2, 2.27)
Sunday: at Yankees, 2:05. Rays, TBA; Yankees, LH CC Sabathia (4-1, 3.27)
