UPDATE, 2:38: Clarifying what was a communication error with the team PR staff, Rays manager Kevin Cash said LHP Blake Snell was slated for an extra day's rest all along and will face the Nationals on Monday not the Yankees on Sunday. The Rays will use an opener on Sunday, potentially RHP Ryne Stanek if he is not needed tonight. … Wendle confirmed that he has not played outfield at any level, but said he was up to and excited for the opportunity. Cash acknowledged the challenging circumstances (specifically playing in the Trop and against the Yankees) and said he has confidence Wendle can handle it . … RHP Chris Archer said was "highly encouraged" by how he felt the day after throwing off the mound for the first time in nearly weeks and would throw another bullpen session Monday, with the idea that if all goes well he could be on track to rejoin the rotation in "early July." Cash mentioned the idea of using him as sort of a game opener, maybe instead of a rehab start, until he gets built. … The Rays pitching depth took another hit with word that RHP Yonny Chirinos is back on the DL at Triple-A, now with a shoulder issue. He previously had forearm trouble.

Here is the Yankees lineup, with Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez getting a day off:

DEVELOPING: After hanging on for a 2-1 last night over the MLB-best Yankees, the Rays are looking to make it two in a row today.

And their lineup will have a different look, with INF Joey Wendle making his first career appearance,  majors or minors, in the outfield.

RHP Wilmer Font will start for the Rays on what is a bullpen day, with the idea he can go four-five innings, rather than an opener, who only goes 1-2 innings.

RHP Sonny Gray is starting for the Yankees.

Here is the Rays lineup:
Kiermaier cf
Duffy 3b
Bauers dh
Ramos c
Wendle lf
