Rays manager Kevin Cash has been chosen as a coach for the American League team in the July 17 All-Star Game in Washington.

Cash was picked by Astros/AL manager A.J. Hinch, who he has become close with. This is the second straight year Cash has been selected, picked last year by Cleveland manager Terry Francona, for whom he used to work.

Hinch made the announcement in Houston today, adding his reasoning, per mlb.com's Brian McTaggart:

"I joked with him, he's got a ton of experience handling nine pitchers a game."

Player selections will be revealed tonight. The Rays are hoping to have at least two players chosen  – C Wilson Ramos and LHP Blake Snell.
