Marc Topkin’s takeaways from Saturday’s Rays-A’s game

INF Brandon Lowe can be forgiven if he can't keep track of the details from a season that saw him rise from Double A to Triple A to the majors. But the numbers are pretty good mile-markers, his second-inning homer his fifth in the majors, 27th overall for the year.

RHP Yonny Chirinos did it again Saturday, looking good enough at times to make you think he can be quite effective in the majors, then making enough mistakes that you really aren't sure. Determining his role has to be high on the offseason to-do list.

More to come in a future story, but it was unsurprising yet also refreshing to hear A's players and manager Bob Melvin rave about what a good player and even better ex-mate Joey Wendle is, and how happy they are to see him having success with the Rays.
