Alex Corddry is set to be hired as the new in-game reporter on the Rays Fox Sports Sun TV broadcasts, the Times has learned.

Corddry replaces Todd Kalas, who joined the Astros as their TV play-by-play man.

Corddry, 28, most recently worked college football games for ESPN and the SEC Network after spending the previous three years as a reporter/anchor for the Boston NBC affiliate WHDH. She worked previously for the Washington Redskins website and at the CBS affiliate in Birmingham, Ala. She is a graduate of Alabama.

While this will be Corddry's first baseball-only assignment, it is somewhat of a family business as her father, Phil, was a lefty pitcher in the Red Sox organization from 1968-72 getting as high as Double-A.

Corddry, pending completion of her deal, is set to make her debut on the March 12 game against Toronto. An announcement from Fox Sports Sun is expected soon, along with hiring of a pre- and post-game host, duties that Kalas shared last year with Rich Hollenberg.
