UPDATE, 6:30: Moore will see Dr. James Andrews either Wednesday or Thursday for a more thorough examination after the MRI results were inconclusive, executive VP Andrew Friedman said. The fact that Moore said he feels good is a positive sign, though the team will be concerned about Moore until told not to be, Friedman said. Cesar Ramos and Erik Bedard are the leading candidates to take Moore's spot in the rotation, but no decision on a replacement has been made yet, according to Friedman.

UPDATE, 5 p.m.: The Rays have placed Matt Moore on the 15-day DL and called up reliever Jeff Beliveau called up. The team will have more information on Moore's injury later today.

UPDATE, 4:10: Moore said he had the MRI this morning and is awaiting the results. He said he felt "extremely better" when he woke up this morning, with no signs of any structural damage such as inflammation, so was cautiously optimistic.

Moore said he didn't feel any soreness until pressing on a specific spot on the inside of his elbow.

"Every movement I make it's tough to find that soreness unless I put my finger on it, so I think that that's a positive sign,'' Moore said.

Moore said he talked to others who had ligament issues and he didn't have the swelling or tenderness they did when he woke up.

"It feels as normal as it always does, so encouraged by that because I think that sometimes when something structurally changes there is typically a lot of inflammation to the area and I'm not really feeling that,'' he said.

Moore said he opted against the more detailed MRI for now because if you have the dye injected you can't throw for 8-10 days. The doctor told him the basic MRI would show anything major, and Moore said if it shows something small he could still have the dye injection and another MRI back in St. Petersburg.

DEVELOPING: The Rays have yet to provide an update on LHP Matt Moore, who was to undergo an MRI exam this morning on his sore elbow.

But they apparently plan to put him on the disabled list, because the Times has learned reliever Jeff Beliveau is being called up from Triple-A Durham. Beliveau will add an extra arm to the bullpen during the next couple days, as the Rays decide how to replace Moore in the rotation.

Veteran LHP Erik Bedard seems the most likely choice, and made his first start for Durham on Monday.

With Thursday off, the Rays have some flexibility in what they do with the rotation - they could drop Bedard (or Cesar Ramos or someone else) into Moore's slot on Sunday, or they could move Chris Archer up to Sunday and Jake Odorizzi to Monday (still on normal rest) and use the replacement on Tuesday.
