Beckham hit in face by throw, out several days
Rays INF prospect Tim Beckham expects to be sidelined only a few days after a scary incident Friday when he was hit in the face by a thrown ball during drills Friday and sustained a cut under his right eye that required stitches.
"It's a blessing that nothing more serious happened,'' Beckham said.
Beckham said he working on first and third bunt drills when a throw glanced off his glove and hit him in his Nike sunglasses, which didn't break and protected his eye.
"Just a freak accident, man, it can happen to anybody,'' he said. "You're supposed to catch the ball with your glove, not your face.''
Beckham received "a couple" of stitches, but doesn't have any headaches and his vision has not been impacted. He hopes to be back on the field in a couple days.
