UPDATE, 2:56: The Rays made it official, Boxberger has been called up.

DEVELOPING: The Rays have to add an arm to the bullpen tonight, and the Times has learned the call-up is expected to be RHP Brad Boxberger.

Boxberger, 25, has big-league time with the Padres in 2012-13, and was acquired in the off-season trade that sent LHP Alex Torres to San Diego.

Boxberger has pitched in four games at Triple-A Durham, striking out 13 in 6 2/3 innings while allowing only three hits and two walks.

The Rays rotation and bullpen has been in flux with injuries to starters Matt Moore and Alex Cobb and Joel Peralta being sick and unavailable the last two days.
